Declutter Tips to Help Get You Going

DeClutter Fast – Get Your Home In Order!

Do you feel as though your life is becoming out of control because of the clutter that is around your home? Many of us like to have things, and at times these things can pile up to the extent that they just become clutter around our feet.

The house that we live in should really be a haven away from stresses of the world, and the place where we can go home to and really enjoy ourselves and relax, yet many times clutter robs us of the important things even if we do not fully recognize it at the time. If you are tired of living in the clutter and want to take control of your home again then here are some declutter tips to get you started.

The first thing that you should try to do is to only accomplish what you can do at one time. In other words, you should not try to declutter your entire bedroom all at one time, you should rather strive to declutter one part of your bedroom, such as your dresser, closet, or a single side of the bed. By doing this you will be more motivated because you will be able to see what you have accomplished.

Another thing that you should do is to start giving attention to one item every day for a short period of time, and not try to work all at one time on the entire house. This is a great organizational tip as well and has been one of the best declutter tips that I can give you. If you are diligent, and stick to a schedule no matter how small that schedule may be you will find yourself making progress, and will be motivated to continue.

If you find that clutter is taking over your life and your home it’s time to remove the mess and take control again.

3 Ways to Declutter a House

DeClutter Fast – Get Your Home In Order!

There are many of us that would love to realize the happiness that can come with organized living but we tend to live in homes that are simply overcome with clutter. If you have the problem of hanging onto things more than you should, and if piles of unknown objects and forgotten memorabilia are overwhelming your home then here are 3 practical ways to declutter a house.

Pick a spot and start your declutter system. I often start at the entrance to a room when I go about starting to declutter a room. Then I work my way around the room in a wave, not going back and not jumping forward. This has two nice effects, it helps you to be organized about your organizing, and if you need some motivation to keep going you can look at what is already done.

Timing is everything when trying to declutter a house. Many of us start to declutter a room and we get so deep into the mess that when it is suddenly time to stop we are left with a bigger mess, and no motivation to jump back in. It is better if you were to set a clock for a designated time and then to work at top speed until that clock went off. That way you accomplish the most in the time allotted and you don’t get overwhelmed with doing just one more thing before you quit.

Search and destroy is the method that many people use when the are going to declutter a house. Take a couple boxes with you, one for anything that you are going to get rid of and the other for things that you are unsure what you are going to do about. When you are done, or when the second box gets full then go back through it and look at each item objectively to see if you really need to keep it. If you don’t then put it into the other box.

If you find that clutter is taking over your life and your home it’s time to remove the mess and take control again.

Dealing with Bedroom Clutter

DeClutter Fast – Get Your Home In Order!

Of all of the types of house clutter that I have to deal with I have to admit that I hate bedroom clutter the most. The problem with most of us is that the bedroom is not open to the general public, and it is easy to concentrate on the rest of the house while we leave the bedroom clutter to grow. If you find that this is a problem with you then you need to come up with a reliable system in order to deal with bedroom clutter the same way as you deal with it in the rest of the home. The bedroom is the place where we rest. Many of us have a difficult time resting if we know that the room we are in is inundated with clutter. It surely is a mental condition, but it is real to many of us. If you find that your bedroom clutter is getting out of control then here are some practical ways of dealing with the clutter.

You always need a place to start, and the best place that I have found to begin is at the entrance to the room. More than likely the bulk of the clutter will be elsewhere, but by starting at the entrance and working your way around the room in a wave you will not only accomplish more work in less time but you will be able to look back and see what you have accomplished to use it as motivation. You should also look at things objectively, if you are not going to use them, or if you might but haven’t used them in a long time then think about the possibility of getting rid of the item. You can donate it, sell it on eBay or simply toss it out to the garbage. Set a timer for a practical amount of time and work toward your goal as fast as possible until the timer goes off, then stop until the next time you are able to work at it.

If you find that clutter is taking over your life and your home it’s time to remove the mess and take control again.

3 Steps To Declutter A Bedroom

DeClutter Fast – Get Your Home In Order!

It is a difficult thing to live in a cluttered house, and for many of us clutter has become a way of life. If the mess that is in the rest of your house has crept into your bedroom it is time to learn how to de-clutter a bedroom, and take control of that part of your house.

I don’t know about you but I have a hard time getting a good night’s sleep when I know that the bedroom is cluttered. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s similar to the change in feeling that you get when you clean out your car. It’s like you are driving a new automobile and it can be a very pleasant experience. Here are 3 steps to declutter your bedroom so you can get that feeling in there as well.

First, you need to prioritize what you are going to do. There are big parts to the clutter and small parts to the clutter. I usually call this part of the process making a little pile of crap out of a big pile of crap. Throw out what needs to be thrown out and try organizing the clutter into smaller manageable piles. Getting this done first will let you see some progress and help motivate you to finish the job.

Next, you want to attack the room like a wave. Start in one corner of the room and work your way around systematically. You won’t accomplish much if you try to piece the room together all at one time, and as you work your way across the room looking at what you have already done can be very motivational.

The final phase will be to finish up any loose ends. There are always some things that are left over, and especially if you have a problem with procrastination this will be an issue. Make sure that you finish what you have started, and then come up with a system to keep it that way.

If you find that clutter is taking over your life and your home it’s time to remove the mess and take control again.
